In Limburg (Belgium), an additional 600 jobs will be created over the next years, thanks to a big project of the logistics group Weerts Supply Chain.
Weerts Supply Chain (WSC), the logistics group with head offices in Milmort (near Liège), has announced the launch of its first warehouse in Tongeren. WSC has bought the warehouse off of the former Teleflex (building group Cordeel). The building is 14.000 square meters, and will be expanded by an additional 7.000 square meters. “At first this will create 25 jobs, and further down the road it will create 60 additional jobs,” says Yves Weerts, Managing Director and responsible for logistics at WSC.
The group discovered the opportunity thanks to the efforts of Locate in Limburg, a service at the Provincial Development Agence (POM Limburg), that attracts investors to Limburg.
Weerts Supply Chain has additional big plans for Limburg. They will soon announce a big logistics project for one of the biggest logistics players of Europe. The new distribution center will be located in the region of Tessenderlo-Beringen and will create an additional 300 jobs from the start. In a couple of years, this number will grow to 600 jobs.
